Using pea as our model crop, we sought to understand the regulatory control over import of sugars and amino acids into developing seeds its importance for seed yield quality. Transgenic peas simultaneously overexpressing a sucrose transporter an acid were developed. Pod walls, coats, cotyledons analysed separately, well leaves subtending pods. Sucrose, starch, protein, free acids, endogenous cytokinins measured during development. Temporal gene expression analyses (RT-qPCR) (AAP), (SUT), SWEET family members, those from cell wall invertase, cytokinin biosynthetic (IPT) degradation (CKX) families indicated strong effect transgenes on expression. In coats double transgenics, increased content prolonged presence was particularly noticeable. The effectively promoted transition young sink source leaves. We suggest flux sink, along with interaction between invertase in led enhanced activity, resulting higher cotyledon at process harvest, number protein maturity.
